What it does
Self Improve is an aeon skill: Improve the agent itself, or audit its recent performance - better skills, prompts, workflows, and config, plus a quality/reliability/memory-hygiene review of what it did and what failed. Like every aeon skill it is one SKILL.md prompt file that runs unattended on your own GitHub Actions, on a schedule or when you trigger it, and sends what it finds to Telegram, Discord, Slack or email.
Input: the var setting
Every aeon skill takes one optional text input, var, set in aeon.yml or typed in when you run it by hand. It picks the target or the mode for that run.
Mode selector, optionally with a focus area, as mode or mode:focus.
- empty or
improve→ improve mode: find and fix the highest-impact issue from recent logs, then propose + apply the fix via PR (default). improve:<area>(or a bare area likenotifications) → improve mode focused on that specific area (e.g.heartbeat,notifications,memory).audit→ audit mode: review what the agent did, what failed, and what to improve; save a full review and apply safe, obvious fixes directly.audit:<area>→ audit mode focused on that specific area (e.g.reliability,memory).
What it needs
No extra API keys or MCP servers. It runs on the model you connected to aeon (a Claude subscription token, an API key, or another login).
Install and run it
Easiest: open Aeon Connect, sign in with GitHub and turn on Self Improve. No clone, no terminal. To add it to an existing aeon repo from a shell, run:
Then switch it on in aeon.yml (the default schedule is filled in):
skills:
self-improve: { enabled: true, schedule: "0 18 1/2 * *", var: "" }New to aeon? Read the docs for how skills, schedules and memory fit together, or browse all skills.
