What it does

Search Skills is an aeon skill: Search the open agent skills ecosystem for skills that fill a real gap and install them via the native add-skill path. Like every aeon skill it is one SKILL.md prompt file that runs unattended on your own GitHub Actions, on a schedule or when you trigger it, and sends what it finds to Telegram, Discord, Slack or email.

Your task is to find an external skill that fills a real gap in this repo, install it via bin/add-skill (so skills.lock + aeon.yml + the trust-gated security scan all fire), and notify only when something was installed or surfaces as a strong recommendation. Silence on no-gap / empty-result runs is correct - it prevents training the operator to ignore this channel.

Input: the var setting

Every aeon skill takes one optional text input, var, set in aeon.yml or typed in when you run it by hand. It picks the target or the mode for that run.

Capability to search for (e.g. rss, gas alert, farcaster). If empty, derives a query from concrete repo gaps (failing skills, open issues, non-template priorities). If no gap can be derived, abort as SEARCH_SKILL_NO_GAP - silent, log-only.

What it needs

No extra API keys or MCP servers. It runs on the model you connected to aeon (a Claude subscription token, an API key, or another login).

Install and run it

Easiest: open Aeon Connect, sign in with GitHub and turn on Search Skills. No clone, no terminal. To add it to an existing aeon repo from a shell, run:

bin/add-skill aeonfun/aeon search-skill

Then switch it on in aeon.yml (the default schedule is filled in):

skills:
  search-skill: { enabled: true, schedule: "0 14 * * *", var: "" }
