What it does

Digest is an aeon skill: Generate and send a digest on a configurable topic, optionally pulling RSS/Atom feeds as an input source alongside web + X signal. Like every aeon skill it is one SKILL.md prompt file that runs unattended on your own GitHub Actions, on a schedule or when you trigger it, and sends what it finds to Telegram, Discord, Slack or email.

Generate and send a daily var digest.

The whole point of a digest is signal, not volume. A reader skimming for 60 seconds should walk away with three things they didn't know that morning and one of them should change a decision they'd make this week. Anything that doesn't clear that bar gets cut.

Input: the var setting

Every aeon skill takes one optional text input, var, set in aeon.yml or typed in when you run it by hand. It picks the target or the mode for that run.

Selects the digest's topic and which source classes feed it. Grammar:

  • "" (empty) → digest's default sources (WebSearch + xAI/Grok + aggregators), no topic filter - a broad daily digest.
  • "<topic>" → topic-focused digest on the default web sources, filtered to <topic> (e.g. "solana", "AI agents", "rust").
  • "rss" → RSS-only: pull feeds from memory/feeds.yml, no topic filter.
  • "rss: <topic>" → RSS-only, filtered to <topic> (e.g. "rss: rust").
  • "<topic> +rss" → default web sources and RSS feeds combined, both filtered to <topic> (e.g. "AI agents +rss").

What it needs

Besides the model you connected to aeon, Digest uses the following. Add secrets as GitHub Actions secrets on your aeon repo, or in Aeon Connect.

  • XAI_API_KEY - optional secret, unlocks more data or features

Install and run it

Easiest: open Aeon Connect, sign in with GitHub and turn on Digest. No clone, no terminal. To add it to an existing aeon repo from a shell, run:

bin/add-skill aeonfun/aeon digest

Then switch it on in aeon.yml (the default schedule is filled in):

skills:
  digest: { enabled: true, schedule: "0 14 * * *", var: "" }
